‘Fun’ In ‘Spinning’

‘Fun’ In ‘Spinning’

We’re easily the most effective and safe indoor cycling workout in country, with our freewheel pedaling that forces you to pedal the full circle pedal stroke, using all the muscles of the legs.

But the most FUN indoor cycling workout in the country?

Well, that depends….if your idea of ‘fun’ is flashing strobe lights, ear-damaging club music, twerking instructors dancing around the room and checking themselves out in the mirror, then no.

You see, we don’t really think that’s fun. We actually find the screaming and yelling annoying and it hurts our ears.

In fact, we don’t even try to compete in the more distraction, more strobe lights, more ‘moves’, hotter instructors arms race in Spinning.

It’s a race to the bottom anyway, like a drug addiction that gets requires more and more to get the same effect.

Our path is to seek the higher ground through exercise. Think of your yoga or barre workout. Mindful attention to form, calming instruction and frequent reference to the body the breath. You couldn’t imagine a yoga instructor screaming obscenities at you, could you?

We think deep focus, working hard and getting into a the zone is the most ‘fun’ you can have when exercising, and science backs us up. The more you try to distract yourself from your workout, the less you recognize and notice the amazing ways it makes you feel. Study after study shows this, recently highlighted in the New York Times Well blog.

At Revocycle we really feel like there’s enough distraction and chaos available in the world already and what we really need is a place and time where we focus on our body, the music, the rhythm.

So Revocycle is bringing mindful form and quiet, calming teaching to indoor cycling. After a Revocycle class you’ll feel tired, yes, but strangely

refreshed and rejuvenated rather than beat up and stressed.

That’s the magic of mindful movement!
