Flow Or Distraction In Spin?

Posted on February 16, 2017 · Posted in Uncategorized

Revocycle starts with the core belief that exercise is amazing if we only tune into it.

This is the same mindset as yoga and barre classes. Weight lifting and running and hiking and skiing and climbing……same thing. A type of moving meditation of strength and focus.

Spin classes have lost that sense of being in touch with the movement, the muscles and the moment.

It’s about sex, entertainment, distraction. Studios hire actors and models as ‘instructors’ simply because their ‘hot’. The whole class becomes a performance by the ‘instructor’, with wild and dangerous (and useless) ‘dance moves’. It’s incredibly loud music, light shows and actual stages with spotlights to highlight the ‘instructors’ ‘performance’.

The athletic flow mindset is being in touch with the body and movement. Focus on the muscles and the breath and alignment and getting into the zone is the whole goal. We don’t want- or need- to be entertained and distracted.

We already all live busy, distracted lives. Everything is entertainment designed to keep us from being present. The last thing we need is more chaos in our movement and exercise. That’s why barre and yoga are so amazing…they’re an escape from the noise and distraction of modern living.

Why shouldn’t your cycle class be the same?

Revocycle is the mindful, moving meditation approach to cycling exercise that leaves us feeling calm and rejuvenated rather than beat up and drained.
